Frequently Asked Questions
What happens during a consultation?
A 15-minute consultation provides focused time to discuss a specific immigration question. A 30-minute consultation provides additional time to discuss one or more questions. What can be covered depends on the facts and time available, and no particular advice, strategy, or document list is guaranteed.
Do you offer virtual consultations?
Yes. Most consultations are conducted by phone or video. In-person meetings at our Burlington office are available for complex matters that benefit from document review.
What does "credited toward retainer" mean?
If you decide to retain AKT Law after your consultation, the consultation fee you already paid is subtracted from the retainer deposit. For example, if you paid $100 for a 30-minute consultation and the retainer deposit is $1,500, you would owe $1,400 at signing.
Can I bring a family member to the consultation?
Yes. If a family member is directly involved in your immigration matter — for example, a petitioning spouse or parent — they are welcome to join. Please mention this when you book so we can plan accordingly.
